Governor Abbott Announces Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund Grant To Tekscend Photomask
TelAve News/10885902
~ In a move to strengthen the semiconductor industry in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has announced that a $15.2 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) has been awarded to Tekscend Photomask Round Rock Inc. The grant will be used to expand photomask production capacity at their manufacturing facility in Round Rock, creating 50 new jobs and bringing in over $223 million in capital investment.
Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of Texas in the semiconductor industry, stating that it is where the integrated circuit began and where the future of the industry is being built. He believes that this investment by Tekscend Photomask will further solidify Texas' critical supply chain for semiconductor manufacturing and position the state as a leader in the American resurgence of this field.
Tekscend Photomask is a leading manufacturer of photomasks, which are essential components in semiconductor chip production. The expansion project includes increasing the capacity of their existing facility by over 40%, modernizing equipment and facilities for improved efficiency, and extending technology capability down to the 12nm technology node. This technology is used in chip manufacturing for various devices such as AI, industrial equipment, automotive parts, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices, microcontrollers, and sensors.
