Governor Abbott Appoints Emily Groomer To Texas Early Learning Council

~ Fort Worth resident Emily Groomer has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Texas Early Learning Council. Groomer's term will expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The Council, which serves as Texas' State Advisory Council, was established in accordance with the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007.

Groomer brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as an early childhood special education state coordinator at the Texas Education Agency. She also held positions as an early childhood special education specialist at Education Service Center Region 11 and a special education teacher at Del Valle Independent School District.

With a Bachelor of Arts in English from The University of Texas (UT) at Austin and a Master of Special Education from UT Rio Grande Valley, Groomer is well-equipped to contribute to the Council's mission of improving the quality and accessibility of early childhood services across Texas.

The Council utilizes its diverse representation from various stakeholders to promote coordination and collaboration among state agencies and local program providers. Groomer's appointment is expected to further enhance these efforts and benefit young children throughout the state.
