Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Humanities Texas

~ Governor Greg Abbott has recently made appointments to Humanities Texas, a commission that focuses on studying and addressing policy issues related to special education funding. The appointments include Julie Ruehle, Stacey Neal Combest, and Ellen K. Ramsey, all of whom bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the commission.
Julie Ruehle, from Austin, has been appointed as the CEO of the Ruehle Family Office. She is also a board member of the Austin AI Hub and serves as a Student Board Executive Committee Mentor for the Kendra Scott Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute at The University of Texas in Austin. With her extensive background in accounting and business administration, Ruehle is well-equipped to contribute valuable insights to the commission. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Houston, a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, and has completed Columbia University's executive program in venture capital and private equity.
Stacey Neal Combest, from Huntsville, has been reappointed to the commission. She previously served as chair of the Texas Commission on Special Education Funding and is an alternative dispute resolution-certified mediator. Combest is also a member of the Texas Association of Mediators and former president of Texans for State Supported Living Centers. With her background in political science and law, she brings a unique perspective to the commission. Combest holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UH and a Juris Doctor from the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law.

Ellen K. Ramsey, from Midland, has also been reappointed to Humanities Texas. She currently serves as Public Stakeholder Consultant for Energy Transfer and is a partner at Ramsey Petroleum, L.P., bringing valuable knowledge about energy issues to the commission. In addition to her professional experience, Ramsey is also an active civic volunteer serving on various boards such as Midland Chamber of Commerce and Midland Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. She is also a Junior League of Midland sustainer and PTA lifetime member. Ramsey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UT Permian Basin.
These appointments, set to expire on December 31, 2027, demonstrate Governor Abbott's commitment to addressing important policy issues related to special education funding. With the diverse backgrounds and expertise of these appointees, Humanities Texas is well-positioned to make valuable recommendations for the betterment of the state's education system.
