~ Last night, Governor Greg Abbott took the stage as the keynote speaker at the Texas Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony. The event was held to honor the brave men and women who lost their lives while serving in the line of duty. During his speech, Governor Abbott presented the Texas Medal of Honor to a family member of each of the 25 officers being recognized.

In his address, Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude to these fallen officers for their courageous and selfless service. He stated, "The people of Texas hold you in eternal gratitude for your brave, selfless service." The Governor also acknowledged that this memorial serves as a reminder of the heroes who were taken from us too soon. He emphasized that their lives mattered and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Reflecting on the legacy of Texas law enforcement, Governor Abbott praised today's officers for carrying on the proud tradition of those who helped tame the Wild West. He also noted that while their role may have evolved over time, their commitment and dedication to protecting Texans remains unchanged.
