~ Austin, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has recently appointed Clayton Ripley and named Dan West as chair to the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas Board of Trustees. Ripley's term is set to expire on August 31, 2031.

Ripley, a resident of Austin, brings a wealth of experience to the TRS Board. He currently serves as the vice president of Holt Aerial, a company that specializes in wind services. Prior to its acquisition by Holt Cat in 2021, Ripley co-owned and helped lead TGM Wind Services. He is also the founder and managing director of multiple Texas-based businesses, including Town Lake Capital Management and BGCP Holdings.

In addition to his business ventures, Ripley is a certified public accountant in good standing with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. He is also a member at large of the Texas Society of CPAs and serves as treasurer for the Texas Land Trust Council. Ripley is also an active member of All Saints Presbyterian Church.

Ripley's impressive resume also includes serving as a gubernatorial appointee on the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University.

Joining Ripley on the TRS Board is Dan West from Houston. West brings extensive knowledge in energy services, equipment, and technology as an investor at SCF Partners, a private equity firm. He is also a member of the State Bar of Texas and its Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources Law Section.

West's involvement in his community includes serving as board chairman for Brillante Academy and board member for the Sam Houston Area Council of Scouting America. He is also a member of the International & National Security Law Executive Committee for the Federalist Society.

West's previous gubernatorial appointment was on the Economic Incentive Oversight Board since 2022. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard College, a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. West is also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who led infantry operations in Afghanistan and in support of the NATO Libyan intervention.

The TRS Board of Trustees is responsible for managing retirement and other benefits for teachers and employees of the state's public schools and institutions of higher education. With the addition of Ripley and West, the board is well-equipped to continue serving the needs of Texas educators.
