~ At the 80th Annual Convention of the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), Governor Greg Abbott delivered a speech highlighting the crucial role of the oil and gas industry in making Texas a powerhouse in the economy. Joined by other state and local officials and business leaders, including Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Jim Wright and Representatives Briscoe Cain and Charles Cunningham, Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude to the industry for its contributions to the state.

In his address, Governor Abbott acknowledged that the world recognizes Texas as a key player in global security, thanks to the efforts of the oil and gas sector in making both Texas and America energy independent. He also emphasized how this industry plays a vital role in building schools, roads, and funding border security efforts. The Governor stated that without the contributions of this sector, Texas would not have achieved its current status as the number one state.

Governor Abbott also highlighted Texas' leading position in U.S. energy production, providing almost one-fourth of domestically produced energy. He commended the actions taken during the 89th legislative session to crack down on oil theft, including increasing criminal penalties for theft of petroleum-based products. These measures included launching a Theft Prevention Unit at the Texas Department of Public Safety, authorizing local law enforcement to confiscate stolen petroleum products, and implementing a program to inspect oil and gas tankers for potential theft.

The Governor expressed his appreciation for all those working in the oil and gas industry who provide Texans with essential power for their daily lives. He concluded his remarks by thanking everyone involved for helping make Texas a leading state.
