NAPLES, Fla. - TelAve -- Gulfshore Marine Construction (GMC), a leader in marine engineering and construction in southwest Florida, has successfully completed a comprehensive hurricane resiliency project at the LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort. The project, led by GMC President and Professional Engineer Julien Devisse, required a balance of complex engineering with high-end aesthetics to fortify the iconic resort.

The technical scope of the project was designed to shield the resort from severe environmental threats.

• Seawall Elevation: Raised 4 feet to protect the shoreline from storm surges.
• Drainage Overhaul: A new underground system for the beach property and pool deck.
• Structural Fortification: Installation of helical anchors and specialized hurricane pool walls.
• Building Security: Addition of hurricane shutters and waterproof doors.

GMC saved the client approximately $1M by identifying that existing structures on the bay side provided sufficient protection, removing the need for redundant construction.

"Our goal was a comprehensive plan to mitigate future storm impacts," said Julien Devisse, PE. "We worked daily with LaPlaya's management to ensure updates were completed with minimal disruption to resort operations."
