HealthPlan Freedom Earns National Spotlight for Service-Driven Success
CHARLOTTE, NC – In a constantly shifting industry, HealthPlan Freedom set itself apart for all the right reasons. This year, the team earned national recognition as members received honors in the Health Insurance Marketplace Circle of Champions.
In fact, several team members achieved "Elite" and "Elite Plus" status. The latter is for agents and brokers enrolling more than 500 consumers in qualified health plans during the Open Enrollment Period (OEP).
"We thank HealthPlan Freedom for its dedication to providing exceptional service and helping consumers access coverage," said Peter Nelson, Deputy Administrator & Director at CMS. "Agents and brokers are important partners to CMS in our shared goal of helping expand access to coverage across the nation."
HealthPlan Freedom has been around since 2002 but transitioned into the Affordable Care Act (ACA) market in 2015. It was a tumultuous time with many large insurance carriers exiting the space. With a handful of agents, they continued to grow.

Today's HealthPlan Freedom team of 26 agents has a nationwide footprint offering more than 200 plans. The company has earned dozens of national HealthCare Marketplace awards and a 5-star rating.
"Achieving this level is a big deal and it's not given out lightly," HealthPlan Freedom Director Tracy Zimmerman said. "We work long hours during open enrollment, six days a week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or later. And when it's over, yes, we celebrate."
In a field of cookie-cutter sales approaches and cold leads, Zimmerman believes their success is in collaboration, not competition. They get calls from the competition and will help when possible. In return, they receive many referrals from the field, including those from competing agents.
"The biggest point of pride is how we help clients," Zimmerman said. "We take the time to get to know their needs, check prescriptions and doctors, and find the right plan for them and real solutions. I've had clients tell me I can't ever retire, and I take that as the highest compliment."
