Kristen Johnson lives in Jonesborough, Tennessee, with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and a bunny. She has been a high school teacher for over 20 years, a job she truly loves. In The Dead, the elven kingdom of Aelgalad has endured beneath the crushing grip of the Dark for over two centuries. Many have tried to free it. None have returned. Now Syllē journeys into the heart of the cursed realm, carrying the weight of impossible hope and the knowledge that failure may doom more than the elves alone. Tarin remains in Exulias, haunted by his fears surrounding Syllē's mission. When the wizard Gideon offers him a diversion, Tarin jumps at the chance to explore the deadly expanse of the Moaning Bog to hunt creatures long feared in whispered legend, only to uncover treachery and dark secrets brewing from before the fall of Shara. Across MithTerra, war closes in as Dark Lord Merilik prepares his final campaign-gathering his deadliest champions for one purpose: the complete extermination of the bloodline of Asger. As alliances are tested, enemies emerge from the shadows, and those long-buried rise from the grave, Syllē and Tarin must face the cost of hope in a world on the brink of annihilation. In the final installment of the Valaraii Rising Trilogy, the battle for the future begins where legends were broken and ends where sacrifice demands everything.
