Idaho Falls: Heritage Park Ribbon Cutting Marks Major Community Milestone
TelAve News/10895424
~ Idaho Falls, ID - On May 6, 2026, city officials, members of the Idaho Falls Rotary Club, and community supporters gathered at Heritage Park to commemorate a major milestone for the community. The official ribbon cutting ceremony for two new picnic shelters marked the completion of a project that has been in the works for several years.
Located along the western banks of the Snake River, Heritage Park is a 10-acre park that showcases the natural, cultural, and historical heritage of Idaho Falls. The park has undergone several upgrades in recent years, including the addition of new picnic shelters. These upgrades were made possible by funds raised through the Idaho Falls Rotary Club's annual Duck Race.
Parks & Recreation Director PJ Holm expressed his excitement about the new additions to Heritage Park. "Heritage Park not only connects people to the Snake River but also provides space for recreation and enhances the quality of life for residents and visitors alike," he said. "The new picnic shelters are more than just structures; they are gathering places where families can celebrate birthdays, friends can reconnect, and memories can be made for generations to come."

Since 2018, the Idaho Falls Rotary Club has contributed over $800,000 to various projects in Heritage Park. These projects have included grading the property, installing an irrigation system, building pathways throughout the park, purchasing sod, and most recently funding two new picnic shelters.
The development of Heritage Park is a testament to the power of community partnership. The Smith families generously donated the land that made this project possible while Ball Ventures funded construction of the parking lot. Morgan Construction also played a crucial role by transporting and donating fill material needed to elevate the park's grounds. Additionally, volunteers from JustServe organized an effort to install over four acres of sod in a single evening.
The shared vision and collaboration among numerous private organizations, nonprofits, and community partners have brought Heritage Park to life as a lasting community asset. "The Idaho Falls Rotary Club has been instrumental in developing the River Walk, and especially Heritage Park," Holm stated. "We are grateful for their ongoing commitment to creating beautiful spaces along the River Walk for current and future generations."
