Idaho Falls: Shed and Pickup Truck Destroyed in East Ririe Highway Fire
TelAve News/10894882
~ Idaho Falls, ID - A controlled burn on East Ririe Highway turned into a destructive fire this afternoon, resulting in the destruction of a shed and pickup truck. The Idaho Falls Fire Department was called to the scene at approximately 4:05 p.m. after receiving reports of a large shed on fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure fully engulfed in flames, along with a pickup truck that had also caught fire. According to initial information, the homeowner had been burning vegetation along a nearby canal bank when the fire spread to the shed. Despite attempting to extinguish the flames with water, it is believed that the fire reignited and quickly spread.
The fire department acted swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. Fortunately, they were able to safely remove a classic car that was stored inside the shed before it sustained significant damage. However, a Chevy pickup truck was destroyed and the shed suffered severe structural damage, rendering it unusable. The estimated property loss is around $80,000.

In addition to damaging property, the fire also extended into a nearby willow tree and burned within its trunk. To ensure safety and prevent any further hazards, the department's wildland team took down a large cottonwood tree adjacent to the shed.
The Idaho Falls Fire Department responded with a full suppression effort and called in additional personnel for assistance. The Idaho Falls Fire Department Wildland Team and Idaho State Police also provided support during this incident.
At this time, there have been no reported injuries or casualties as a result of this fire. The cause of the controlled burn spreading is still under investigation by authorities.
