IU Asian Culture Center, City of Bloomington to Host Asianfest 2026

~ The Indiana University Asian Culture Center, in collaboration with the City of Bloomington, is proud to announce the upcoming Asianfest 2026. This annual event celebrates the rich heritage of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities and will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater located at 114 East Kirkwood Avenue.
Themed "Mosaic Traditions: Piecing a Common Ground," this year's Asianfest aims to highlight the shared histories and diverse cultures within AAPI communities at Indiana University and in the broader Bloomington area. Through cultural expression, storytelling, and artistic performances, attendees are invited to reflect, connect, and find peace on common ground.
The event will be divided into two parts at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. From 4 to 6 p.m., there will be a Cultural and Informational Tabling where attendees can explore booths representing various AAPI communities, student organizations, and community partners. This will be followed by Live Performances and Video Screenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m., featuring AAPI voices, traditions, and artistic expressions.

Asianfest is free for all members of the public with no tickets required. It aims to welcome people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and identities from both Indiana University and the wider Bloomington community.
According to Shatoyia Moss, Director of Community and Family Resources, "Asianfest offers our community an opportunity to celebrate the richness and vibrancy of Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures." She also added that this event creates a space for reflection, connection, and appreciation while strengthening the sense of belonging in Bloomington.
The event is organized by the Asian Culture Center at Indiana University with support from community partners who are dedicated to uplifting AAPI voices and experiences in Bloomington. The planning committee for Asianfest 2026 includes Alex Tran, Ethan Slatkin, Natalie Jessica Ng, Chloe Duggan Ariston, Ankita Dey, Suyash Kumar Neupane, and Chandhini Suresh.
