Jacksonville: CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, JACKSONVILLE BRANCH NAACP, JACKSONVILLE URBAN LEAGUE AND JAX CHAMBER ANNOUNCE THE 39TH ANNUAL MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. BREAKFAST, AND TOMORROW'S LEADERS CONTEST WINNERS

~ Jacksonville, FL - The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast is set to take place on January 18, 2026 at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center. This event, hosted by the City of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Branch NAACP, Jacksonville Urban League, and JAX Chamber, is a time to honor Dr. King's legacy and promote unity, equality, and progress within the community.
Mayor Donna Deegan expressed the significance of this event by stating, "The Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast is an opportunity to honor his legacy and embrace a shared vision of unity, equality, and progress." She also extended an invitation to all citizens to participate in this tradition and join in the ongoing efforts to build a city where everyone can thrive.
This year's program will feature the next generation of leaders through the 2026 Tomorrow's Leaders contest presented by VyStar Credit Union. This contest recognizes students from across Jacksonville who embody Dr. King's philosophies of leadership, community service, and civic responsibility.

"These young leaders are the heartbeat of our city's future," Mayor Deegan remarked. "Their remarkable contributions give us hope for a brighter tomorrow."
The Tomorrow's Leaders contest winners were chosen from essay, poetry, and visual arts submissions inspired by Dr. King's powerful message: "When Courage Leads, Love Follows." This theme serves as a reminder that true leadership requires not only strength but also courage to press forward and do what is right with love at its core.
In the high school poetry category, Janea White from Westside High School was named the winner while Tamea Goodman from A. Philip Randolph High School was recognized as the runner-up. In middle school visual arts category, Jordan Taylor from Westview K-8 took home first place while Nisha Gophinath from Freedom Crossing Academy was named runner-up. Raquel Watson from Biscayne Elementary Leadership Academy won the elementary school essay category, with Bryce Gravin from the same school being recognized as the runner-up.
Tickets for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast are available at Special Events - Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast. Those interested in purchasing a reserved corporate table for 10 must do so by January 9, 2026. While parking is free, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to ensure a smooth and timely event.
