NEW YORK - TelAve -- What happens when a familiar view becomes an invitation to imagine? In The Joy Between, artist Jess Domain introduces unexpected color, reflective surfaces and playful possibilities into photographs and paintings, encouraging viewers to reconsider the world around them.

On view September–November 2026 at the Port Authority Midtown Bus Terminal, the solo exhibition brings 16 works into the paths of commuters, visitors and travelers. Photography, painting and hand-applied silver and 22k gold turn everyday observations into encounters that invite curiosity, reflection and connection.

A Chelsea neighborhood dissolves into oil paint and silver in A View From the Zoo. Fine silver leaf, cut and applied using the Japanese kirikane technique, catches the light in a shifting cityscape. As viewers move, reflections change, making their own perspective part of the work.

Beyond these city scenes, clouds become a shared game of imagination, aspen trees appear to look back at the viewer, and a surprising discovery between friends inspires a painting about how much we can have in common without knowing it.

About the Artist

Jess Domain is a New York–based multidisciplinary artist whose mixed-media work combines photography, paint and hand-applied silver and gold leaf. Her career spans visual art, music, dance and theater, including touring with Aretha Franklin and writing the Off-Broadway play The Culture of Now. Her visual art has been presented at New York Fashion Week, Six Summit Gallery in New York and Connecticut, Chamard Vineyards and Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota, where she held her 2025 solo exhibition, The Silver Thread.
