Join Springfield Police for Coffee with a Cop at Panera Bread

TelAve News/10871394
~ On October 5, 2022, the Springfield Police Department will be hosting a special event at all five Panera Bread locations in Springfield, Missouri. From 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., community members are invited to join officers for National Coffee with a Cop Day.

According to Police Chief Paul Williams, this nationwide event is an opportunity for more SPD officers to connect with citizens in the community. With their busy schedules, officers often don't have the chance to interact with citizens on a personal level. This event aims to change that and allow for open communication and relationship-building between law enforcement and the community.

Similar to Chief Williams' monthly Coffee with the Chief events, Coffee with a Cop's mission is to improve trust and build relationships one cup of coffee at a time. The concept originated in 2011 when officers from the Hawthorne, California police department were searching for ways to better interact with the citizens they served daily.

The goal of this event is for citizens to have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know the people behind the badges. It's also a chance for officers to show their commitment and dedication to serving and protecting their community. So mark your calendars for October 5th and join Springfield police officers for a cup of coffee at Panera Bread.
