Juneau: Residents Invited to Take CBJ Community Compass Survey and Share Budget Priorities

TelAve News/10886410
~ Juneau, Alaska - The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) is reaching out to its residents for feedback on city services through the CBJ Community Compass Survey. This initiative aims to gather community input to inform the CBJ assembly's budgeting process this spring.

The survey comes in the wake of Proposition 2, which was passed in the October 7, 2025 Regular Municipal Election. This proposition, which grants sales tax exemptions, is expected to result in significant reductions in sales tax revenue. As a result, service-level cuts to the city's annual budget may be necessary.

With the Fiscal Year 2027 budget process approaching, CBJ is seeking to understand the community's funding priorities and values through this survey and outreach initiative. The effort includes an online survey, in-person workshops, and Assembly listening sessions that will explore which CBJ services are most important to residents.

The survey and workshops will also ask residents about potential tradeoffs they are willing to make and what they consider critical for their quality of life in Juneau. To encourage participation, those who complete the survey will have a chance to win a variety of CBJ passes and prizes. It is important to note that only one response per person is permitted.

The survey is being administered by Rain Coast Data and all responses will remain confidential and reported to CBJ in summary form. Residents can learn more about how to join a workshop and provide their input for the upcoming CBJ budgeting process by visiting juneau.org/community-compass.

For further information about the CBJ Community Compass survey and outreach, individuals can contact the CBJ Communications and Engagement Division at [insert contact information]. The deadline for completing the survey is mid-February.
