~ As the 2026 City and Borough of Juneau Municipal Election kicks off today, September 18, registered voters are reminded that they have the opportunity to cast their ballots by mail or in person at designated vote centers until the election ends on Tuesday, October 6 at 8 p.m.

Registered voters can expect to receive their ballots in the mail soon and are encouraged to return them using one of the secure ballot drop boxes located throughout the city. These drop boxes are available 24/7 and can be found at Statter Harbor Boat Launch Parking in Auke Bay, City Hall in Downtown, Douglas Public Library, Alaska Electric Light and Power Company in Lemon Creek, and Mendenhall Valley Public Library.

Alternatively, voters can also return their completed ballots through the U.S. Postal Service with first class postage. It is recommended that voters take their ballots to a USPS counter and request a hand postmark. All ballots returned via USPS must be postmarked on or before October 6.

For those who require assistance voting, need an ADA accessible ballot, did not receive a ballot in the mail, or prefer to vote in person, vote centers will be open starting Monday, September 21. These centers will be located at City Hall Assembly Chambers and Mendenhall Valley Public Library. From September 21 to October 5, they will be open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Election Day they will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
