Keeping Up Adds Financial Wellness Founder Peter Waitzman to Its Executive Team

The creator of employer-sponsored program Expedition Money will lead strategy, positioning, planning and product development at the New York startup answering money's most avoided question: "Am I doing okay for someone like me?"
NEW YORK - TelAve -- Keeping Up, the New York-based personal finance app that shows people how their net worth, savings and spending compare to peers in their city, industry and age group, today announced that Peter Waitzman has joined the company. Waitzman, founder of the employer-sponsored financial wellness program Expedition Money, will guide Keeping Up's strategy, positioning, planning and product development as the company grows following its public launch in September.
Waitzman will remain CEO of Expedition Money, where he continues to focus on bringing financial wellness to organizations. His new role also expands what Expedition Money can offer: Keeping Up's peer benchmarking and financial data tools join the program's list of vetted solutions, giving employer clients more options and programs for their people. Waitzman brings a career spent in banking, financial planning, investment management and workplace financial wellness.

Breaking the last money taboo
Most people will discuss their health, their relationships and their careers, but not their net worth. Budgeting apps report what you spent without telling you whether it's good. National averages are no help to a 31-year-old tech worker in New York, whose financial reality looks nothing like the typical American's.
Keeping Up closes that gap. Users connect their accounts through Plaid with read-only access, and the app benchmarks them against an anonymous cohort matched by city, profession and age. It shows where they rank on net worth, savings rate and spending by category, then turns those comparisons into concrete next steps. Benchmarks start from Federal Reserve Survey of Consumer Finances and Bureau of Labor Statistics data, then sharpen as real users join each cohort.
The same gap exists in the workplace. Employers increasingly offer financial wellness benefits, but many programs rely on generic advice that employees tune out. Waitzman has spent years building a program employers pay for and employees actually use, and he has argued publicly that financial wellness programs fall short when they lean on macro-level data. Peer benchmarking is the direct answer to that problem.
