42 Groups and an Estimated 200 Volunteers Take to the Streets
KINGSTON, N.Y. - TelAve -- Forty-two community groups will field an estimated 200 volunteers for Kingston Clean Sweep on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to noon, according to event coordinator Tony Marmo.
An estimated 200 people from participating groups—as well as individual volunteers—are expected to take part, Marmo said. This year, Kingston Rotary is organizing the event, taking over from Friends of Historic Kingston. Anna Brett coordinated Clean Sweep for 12 years.
Volunteer sweepers can pick up brooms, safety vests, trash bags and other supplies at three locations:

Kingston Clean Sweep is sponsored by the Kingston Rotary Club, with support from the City of Kingston and numerous businesses, service and civic organizations, schools, churches and individual volunteers. Friends of Historic Kingston started the project in 2009 under the leadership of Patricia Murphy and Steve Noble, now mayor of the City of Kingston.
