DENVER ~ Governor Polis of Colorado announced today that Lathrop State Park has been chosen as the winner of Colorado's State Park Bracket by the people of Colorado. The bracket, hosted by Governor Polis, allowed Coloradans to vote for their favorite state park out of the 43 options in the state.

After weeks of voting, Lathrop State Park emerged as the clear winner, beating out Roxborough State Park in the final round. Governor Polis expressed his excitement at the news, stating that Colorado's state parks offer a wide range of activities for both residents and visitors to enjoy.

Lathrop State Park holds a special place in Colorado's history as it was named the first state park in 1962. Since then, it has become a popular destination for boaters and anglers due to its stunning views of the Spanish Peaks. Governor Polis hopes that all Coloradans will have the opportunity to visit Lathrop and experience its beauty firsthand.

In addition to celebrating Lathrop's victory, Governor Polis also highlighted his efforts to make Colorado's state parks more accessible. In 2021, he signed legislation creating the Keep Colorado Wild Pass, which offers a reduced price of $29 for a state parks pass. This pass will be available starting January 3rd, 2023. Additionally, qualifying individuals can sign up for the Centennial State Park Pass at just $14.

With these initiatives in place, Governor Polis hopes to break down barriers and encourage more people to explore and appreciate Colorado's natural wonders. Congratulations to Lathrop State Park on being named Colorado's favorite state park!
