JEFFERSONVILLE, Ohio, Feb. 29, 2024 ~ On Leap Day, LG Energy Solution and Honda celebrated a major construction milestone at their joint venture's new EV battery production facility near Jeffersonville, Ohio. The final structural steel beam was erected, marking the completion of the building's framework. This achievement comes exactly one year after the groundbreaking ceremony for the over 2 million square feet facility, which is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2024.

The joint venture between LG Energy Solution and Honda is projected to have an overall investment of $4.4 billion and create approximately 2,200 new jobs. The facility aims to start mass production of pouch-type lithium-ion batteries in 2025, which will be supplied to Honda auto plants for the production of electric vehicles (EVs) to be sold in North America.

Bob Lee, CEO of the LG Energy Solution-Honda joint venture, expressed his excitement about reaching this important milestone. He stated, "Today is an important day for our team as we see the final shape of our EV battery production facility taking form. Just one year ago, we were breaking ground on an empty field and now we can see the finish line for this project. We are grateful to everyone working at the site and the local community for making this possible."
