Lineus Medical Awarded University of Arkansas College of Engineering Small Employer of the Year for 2023-2024
TelAve News/10836350
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - TelAve -- Lineus Medical has been awarded the 2023-2024 University of Arkansas College of Engineering Small Employer of the Year. The Small Employer of the Year award recognizes the achievement and excellence of an outstanding employer who has excelled in and made a significant impact on the career readiness, development, and support of the College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas. Through 9 years of business, Lineus Medical has had five University of Arkansas student interns including one becoming a full-time employee. Students who have worked at Lineus Medical have had the opportunity to work in both engineering and marketing functions supporting their flagship product SafeBreak Vascular. The Lineus Medical Executive Team regularly guest lectures in the Biomedical and Industrial Engineering Departments.
SafeBreak Vascular is the only break-away device for IV lines proven to reduce IV complications.1 When a harmful force is placed on the line, SafeBreak intentionally separates to remove the damaging force and protect the patient's IV. When SafeBreak separates, valves on both ends of the device close preventing medicine spills from the pump and blood loss from the patient. To replace SafeBreak, each component is unthreaded from the line, a new sterile SafeBreak is installed, and the patent's infusion is restarted. Patients avoid additional needlesticks, nurses save time, and hospitals save money1.
