CHARLOTTE, N.C. - TelAve -- It is with profound sadness that Living Waters Inc announces the passing of its founder and former President & CEO, Lawrence Barker, Jr.
As the visionary behind Living Waters Inc, Mr. Barker-Bey dedicated his career to building a legacy of caring partnerships and community empowerment. Under his leadership, the organization became a vital link between faith-based communities and the public sector, focusing on eliminating disparities and improving the holistic health of the people it serves.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our founder," said Joan Been, current President & CEO of Living Waters Inc. "Lawrence's commitment to advocacy and his passion for empowering communities, developing our youth, and improving health outcomes created the very foundation we stand on today. We are honored to carry his mission forward."

A service to honor the life and legacy of Mr. Barker-Bey will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at A.E. Grier & Sons, 2310 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206. Visitation is at 11:00am, and the service begins at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Living Waters Inc to continue to the mission of empowering communities and helping youth and their families heal.
