Local Heroes Conquer Great Wall of China and Raise £152,000 for Acorn's Children's Hospice
BIRMINGHAM, U.K. - TelAve -- A group of 31 fundraisers from Birmingham and the West Midlands have embarked on the trip of a lifetime as they collaborated to walk one of the great wonders of the world in Beijing, China, raising funds for a local charity.
The mix of business owners, family representatives, parents, staff and other fundraisers climbed The Great Wall of China for Acorns Children's Hospice, who have facilities based across the West Midlands and Three Counties.
The hospice provides specialist palliative care for life limited and life threatened babies, children and young people living across the region. It costs £13m per year to provide the care and support in hospices and out in the community and sadly, they are presently faced with a deficit. Support like this from the local community is vital in helping them be there for families now and families in the future.

The dedicated hopefuls set off along the wall 5 days ago covering Gubeikou to Jinshanling, culminating at their final climb 1000 metres above sea-level to the topmost tower of Wangjing, Simatai, on The Great Wall.
Not only have they trekked on the wall that was meticulously built and restored over thousands of years, but they also have trekked through wild and remote landscapes with distant views of green rolling hills and mountain peaks, climbed and descended challenging obstacles along the wall, and overcome many personal fears, with one of the Great Wonders of the World as their pathway and backdrop.
The fundraisers have raised over £152,000 for Acorns thanks to sponsors and supporters, as well as helping raise the profile further.
To support Acorns Children's Hospice further, please donate via the JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/acornschinatrek2025.
