MacArthur Freshman Trinity Leighow Records 141 Steals, Anchors 5A State Semifinal Run

TelAve News/10897548
LAWTON, Okla. - TelAve -- One hundred forty-one steals… from a 14-year old Freshman.

That's not a typo, and it's not inflated by garbage time against weak schedules. Trinity Leighow, a 14-year-old defender at MacArthur High School, posted that number across a varsity season that ended in the Class 5A state semifinals… a run that had the Lady Highlanders hosting a playoff game on their own pitch and grinding deep into the bracket before bowing out.

The stats tell the story for Leighow. The postseason tells another. MacArthur's backline held together under the kind of pressure that cracks upperclassmen, and Leighow was in the middle of it, reading passing lanes, jumping routes and turning defensive possessions into transition opportunities before opposing midfielders could reset.

"You will not find anyone to outwork me," Leighow said earlier this season. She spent 30-something games proving it.

The Oklahoma Soccer Coaches Association took notice. Leighow earned First Team All-District honors in Class 5A-1 West — a selection that put her name alongside juniors and seniors who've been in the system for years. And she was even named MacArthur's Varsity Soccer Newcomer of the Year.

But that's just on the field for Leighow. Off the field, she's another force to be reckoned with. MacArthur also claimed the 5A Girls Soccer Academic State Championship, a team distinction that mirrors how Leighow operates individually… production in the classroom running parallel to production on the field.

For a freshman who plays club soccer on two Mustang United squads and juggles a 4.0 GPA, the season was no doubt a statement. And with three years of varsity ball still ahead of her, the 141 steals might end up being the smallest number on her résumé.

Leighow will attend ID camps in Edmond and Tulsa this summer as she continues building her recruiting profile ahead of the 2026–27 season.
