Madison: Gorham Street Lane Closures

TelAve News/10880663
~ Construction Begins on W Gorham Street for Development Project

On Monday, November 3, construction officially began on W Gorham Street between N Broom Street and N Bassett Street. The project is expected to last until approximately Friday, November 21 and will involve lane closures and vehicle travel lane shifts.

The construction is part of the development project at 432 W Johnson St, which requires utility installation and concrete pavement restoration. As a result, users of this area should expect delays during the duration of the work.

One major change that will affect drivers is the closure of the left turn slip lane from N Broom Street to W Gorham Street. This closure will remain in place for the entirety of the construction. However, left turns from N Broom Street onto W Gorham Street can still be made using the signal at the intersection.

During peak hours (7:00am-9:00am, 3:00pm-6:00pm), there will be two travel lanes open on W Gorham Street. However, which specific lanes are open may change depending on the location of the utility work. Alternate traffic patterns will be clearly marked with signage.

During off-peak hours, when construction is still active, there will only be one travel lane open on W Gorham Street. Drivers will be directed into this lane with signage and traffic control devices to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

This construction project is expected to improve infrastructure in the area and accommodate future development plans. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow for extra time when traveling through this section of W Gorham Street during the next few weeks.
