Mesa: Buckle Up Arizona...It's the Law! Enforcement Campaign

TelAve News/10896703
~ Mesa, Arizona- In an effort to increase safety on the state's roadways, the Governor's Office of Highway Safety has joined forces with the Mesa Police Department to enforce seat belt and child safety seat laws. This partnership comes as part of a larger national campaign called Click It or Ticket, which aims to promote the use of seat belts and reduce motor vehicle collisions.

Currently, Arizona has a secondary seat belt law and a primary child safety seat law in place. However, with this new enforcement campaign, law enforcement agencies will be taking a "zero-tolerance" approach towards those who do not comply with these laws. This means that anyone caught not wearing a seat belt or not properly securing their child in a safety seat will face consequences.

The campaign will run through May 31, 2026 and is funded by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety. Despite efforts to educate drivers about the importance of wearing seat belts, motor vehicle collisions remain the leading cause of death and serious injuries in Arizona. With increased enforcement efforts, officials hope to drive home the message: Buckle Up Arizona, it's the Law!
