Michigan Philharmonic ready to launch 80th season

Regional symphony's schedule includes 8 concerts with mix of classical and pops
PLYMOUTH, Mich. - TelAve -- The Michigan Philharmonic, one of Michigan's finest regional orchestras, will launch its 80th season on Saturday, Sept. 27 in Canton with a special opening night performance featuring an internationally acclaimed cellist.
The Phil's 80th season "Birthday Bash" begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Salem High School auditorium on Joy Road in Canton and features music from Ludwig van Beethoven, Anna Clyne, Peter Tchaikovsky, Zhou Tian and Camille Saint-Saens.
The featured artist is Deborah Pae, a renowned cellist praised by critics for her "extraordinary musicianship" and "magical" playing. The Korean-American has received international acclaim after emerging on the international stage in 2003, making her debut at the 45th Grammy Awards. In 2005, she made her European recital debut at the Musée du Louvre in Paris. Over the span of 25 years, Pae has enjoyed an award-winning career as a soloist and chamber musician whose performances at major festivals and concert series throughout North America, Europe, and Asia have garnered critical acclaim.

A graduate of the Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, and an Associate Artist at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth in Belgium, Pae is Associate Professor of Cello at Eastern Michigan University where she is a recipient of the 2021 Ronald W. Collins Distinguished Faculty Award.
The rest of upcoming 2025-2026 season includes monthly performances at various venues in Plymouth, Canton, Northville and a new venue in Farmington Hills at the Hawk Theatre. It also celebrates the leadership of the Philharmonic's Music Director and Conductor Nan Washburn, who is entering her 27th season with this regional orchestra based in Plymouth.
The rest of the 2025-2026 concert schedule includes:
October 18 – Marquis Theater, Northville. This is the annual Halloween "Phright Night."
November 14 – St. Kenneth's Church, Plymouth for "Voices of America."
December 11 & 12 – First United Methodist Church, Plymouth & Marquis Theater, Northville. The popular "Holiday Pops" celebrates the season.
