MTAM Launches Statewide 'Mobile in Transportation' Advisory Council
TelAve News/10416199
As mobile/wireless technologies are significantly impacting every sector of the transportation industry from connected cars to bike-sharing to public transit, parking and more, the Mobile Technology Association of Michigan (MTAM) launches a statewide Advisory Council to facilitate collaboration focused on increasing use of these technologies within all areas of transportation.
TelAve - Sep. 19, 2014 - CLARKSTON, Mich. -- The Mobile Technology Association of Michigan (MTAM) is pleased to announce the launch of its 'Mobile in Transportation' statewide advisory council. The first meeting of the council will take place on Thursday, October 9th from 11:30 am – 1:00 p.m. at Visteon headquarters in Van Buren Township. Those interested in participating should contact MTAM at transport@GoMobileMichigan.org.
Leading the recently launched 'Mobile in Transportation' advisory council will be Tim Yerdon, Vice-president of Design, Marketing and Connected Services at Visteon. Heading Visteon's strategic marketing organization, Yerdon also supports the firm's collaborative efforts with technology partners, government agencies and industry partners to advance growth beyond traditional automotive electronics into the Internet-of-Things, and he supports the electronics business' expansion into the connected-vehicle and services market.
Yerdon states, "Mobile technologies are impacting every sector of the transportation industry, and as a result they are creating jobs, business opportunities, and positive economic impact throughout the State. Michigan has tremendous potential in this sector and I'm excited to work with MTAM's 'Mobile in Transportation' Advisory Council to help make Michigan a leader in the use of mobile and connected technologies."

The 'Mobile in Transportation' Advisory Council is tasked with assisting the trade association with the development and implementation of resources, events, policy recommendations, strategies and educational/networking opportunities that will serve to increase the use of mobile/wireless technologies by all transportation-focused firms and organizations in Michigan to drive business expansion, new business start-ups and job creation.
"MTAM is very lucky to have a chairperson for the 'Mobile in Transportation' council who not only understands the impact of mobile/wireless technologies and the 'Internet of Things' on the automotive industry, but who also thinks beyond that. Tim clearly understands that the lines between industries will become blurred as our use of these technologies increases, and we are very confident that he can help us bring together representatives from across the board in the transportation industry to work together.
We encourage representatives from all transportation sectors including: automotive, rail, aviation, bus, parking, infrastructure, sea transport, trucking, bike-sharing, ride-sharing and more to join us in working together to share knowledge and maximize the opportunities that the use of these technologies can provide as we strive to make Michigan the international leader for the transportation industry's use of these technologies. The more we work together cross-sector, the more all companies in every sector will benefit", said Linda Daichendt, Executive Director of MTAM.
Additional advisory councils being planned include: Mobile in Manufacturing, Re-shoring Mobile/Wireless Manufacturing, Women in Mobile Tech, Mobile in the Supply Chain, and several others.
