Naperville: Downtown Parking Garage Maintenance Work Begins on April 20
TelAve News/10893614
~ Naperville, IL - The City of Naperville has announced that maintenance work will be conducted at two of its parking facilities in partnership with Walker Consultants and JLJ Contracting. The Central Parking Facility located at 75 E. Chicago Avenue and the Water Street Parking Facility located at 120 Water Street will undergo maintenance work starting the week of April 20.
The purpose of this maintenance work is to ensure that the parking facilities are maintained as sustainable assets. To minimize disruption, the work will take place at one facility at a time. The projects are part of a multi-year plan to maintain the parking facilities.
The Central Parking Facility will be the first to undergo maintenance work, starting on Monday, April 20. The work will consist of concrete patching and is expected to take approximately one week to complete, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting. Due to the nature of the work, approximately ten parking spaces will be closed where the work is being performed. Crews will generally work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts if necessary.
To ensure safety and direct motorists through the closed areas, traffic signage and barricades will be in place. Staff will also coordinate with the contractor to maximize weekend parking availability for visitors.

The Water Street Parking Deck maintenance work is scheduled to begin on April 27 and is expected to last through mid-May, again depending on weather and unforeseen circumstances. This project will involve recalking and resealing portions of the first and second levels of the deck. To minimize impact on visitors, crews will only close half a level at a time, allowing for as much parking availability as possible throughout the project.
However, some Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking spaces may be affected by these closures. In such cases, staff will designate an equal number of new ADA-compliant spaces for use.
Similar to the Central Parking Facility project, crews will work from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts if necessary. Traffic signage and barricades will be in place to guide motorists through the closed areas and staff will coordinate with the contractor to maximize weekend parking availability.
Visitors are advised to follow all posted detour and closure signs and use caution while accessing both parking decks. More information about downtown parking options can be found on the City of Naperville's website.
