Dr. Schwab noted that the American Dental Association reports that 73% of American adults express fear and anxiety about going to the dentist. "The result is that many people delay needed treatment. Dentists and their teams need to be continually aware of patients' expressed and unexpressed concerns," he said. "Dental professionals need to explain to patients that essential treatment will never be more conservative, more cost effective, or less invasive than it is today," Dr. Schwab advises.
