HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - TelAve -- Local illusionist Matt Adams is set to make history this summer. On August 6, 2026, in Las Vegas, Adams will be honored with the prestigious Merlin Award, magic's equivalent to an Oscar, Emmy, or Tony for the world of illusion.

Adams is being recognized with the historic distinction: "First Christian Illusionist of the Year." While the Merlin Award has previously been bestowed upon legendary figures such as David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, and Criss Angel, Adams is the first and only performer to receive the award under this specific faith-based category, marking a significant milestone for both the magic community and faith-based entertainment.

The Merlin Award is presented by the International Magicians Society (IMS), the world's largest magic organization with over 57,000 members. Recipients are chosen based on their talent, showmanship, and contribution to the art of magic on a global scale.

"To be recognized by the International Magicians Society is an incredible honor. But receiving this award in recognition of my faith-based approach to magic is especially exciting," said Adams. "My goal has always been to use the art of illusion to connect with people in a meaningful way and to share the gospel of Jesus. I'm thrilled to receive a Merlin Award for this work.
