TelAve News/10896154
MERCER ISLAND, Wash. - TelAve -- Supplemental high-level development program aims to unite top players from across the league

The North Puget Sound League (NPSL) is excited to announce the launch of the new NPSL Player Development Academy (PDA), a supplemental high-level soccer program designed to provide advanced training, competition, and showcase opportunities for top players across the league.

Tryout registration is now officially open for the PDA's inaugural 2026 season, with free tryouts scheduled for:
  • Girls Tryouts — June 6
  • Boys Tryouts — June 7

The PDA was created to bring together ambitious, high-performing players from clubs across the NPSL into a competitive environment focused on:
  • Speed of play and decision making
  • Advanced player development
  • High-level training and scrimmage opportunities
  • Showcase competition
  • Exposure to different coaching styles and teammates

Importantly, the PDA is designed as a supplemental program, meaning players remain fully rostered and committed to their existing club teams while participating in PDA training sessions and events.

"This program is about creating meaningful opportunities for players who are looking for just a little bit extra in their development," said Barry O'Melia, PDA Director. "We want to create an environment where top players from across the league can train and compete together at a very high level while still supporting and strengthening their existing clubs and teams."

The inaugural PDA season will feature four teams across boys and girls age groups, with centrally located training sessions, advanced scrimmage opportunities, and a planned end-of-season showcase event.

PDA leadership expects strong interest from players and families throughout the league. The program is specifically targeted toward impactful players currently competing on their club's top team, particularly within NPSL Division 1, Division 2, or teams playing up.

Tryouts will feature a professional evaluation environment led by experienced coaches and evaluators from across the league. Players selected into the program will participate in a high-level training environment designed to challenge players both technically and tactically while helping continue to raise the level of play throughout the NPSL.
