LOS ANGELES - Feb. 10, 2019 - TelAve -- Stress and anxiety often go hand in hand (stress can be what causes anxiety symptoms, and anxiety can make stress worse). When you're overly tense, you may also turn to other behaviors that make anxiety worse such as smoking, abuse of drugs, or abuse of alcohol.

Severe stress, such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or job loss (or fear of job loss) can also trigger panic attacks. Panic attacks can also be caused by medical conditions and other physical causes.

Panic, Stress and the Amygdala
The amygdala triggers a sudden and intense unconscious emotional response that shuts off the cortex, making it hard for you to think clearly about the situation. As your brain triggers the release of stress hormones such as cortisol, you find it increasingly hard to problem solve and concentrate.

The amygdala is the primitive part of our brain that helped us survive as cavemen (and cavewomen). It is an almond-shaped section of nervous tissue located in the temporal (side) lobe of the brain. ... They (yes, 2 of them) are thought to be a part of the limbic system within the brain, which is responsible for emotions, survival instincts, and memory.

Amazingly, if you don't learn to control the way it responds it will short-circuit any hope of creating clear and meaningful manifestations (romance, wealth, and health) in your life!

A simple example is that your body secretes the same chemicals in a roller coaster ride as it does when running from a tiger!

In one case you control the experience by calling it "fun" and in the other, it is "terror".

Learning to gain control and block the primitive response is the key to mastery of your emotions and manifestations.

Until you understand and get control of how your thoughts, feelings, and emotions are triggered there is little chance of meaningful manifestations. A fight with a loved one, events at work, or an overdrawn bank account will cause your primitive mind to take control.

The ups and downs of your life won't make sense and trying to create the life you want will simply be hit and miss for you.
