TelAve News/10861095
Charley Busuttil & Ysabel Gonzalez newly appointed to Executive Committee roles; expanding community outreach to diversified audiences and highlighting corporate partnership initiative
PRINCETON, N.J. - TelAve -- People and Stories - Gente y Cuentos, Inc., (P&S/GyC) a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the humanities, specifically literature and poetry readings and guided discussions, to those in diverse, marginalized communities who may have not yet experienced its joys, pleasures, and transformative power, this week announced new leadership within its board of trustees and an invitation to the greater New Jersey business community for a partnership initiative. These announcements were released at the organization's recent board meeting held in its new location at 475 Wall Street, Princeton, New Jersey.
NEW BOARD LEADERSHIP
Charles "Charley" Busuttil of Princeton, NJ, formerly Vice Chair of the P&S/GyC Board, is an avid reader and storyteller dedicated to the mission and vision of the organization; he brings his expansive background in Management and Human Resources to the Chair position. Newark, New Jersey native Ysabel Y. Gonzalez was welcomed onto the board and unanimously elected as the organization's Secretary, contributing her expertise in literary arts, wide-ranging experience in non-profit culture, and passion to lift up the work of P&S/GyC.
"We are excited to welcome Ysabel Gonzalez onto the Board of Trustees as our Secretary and thank Charley for his on-going wisdom and support as he embarks on the role of Chair," Executive Director Debra Lampert-Rudman shared recently. "Ysabel and Charley, coupled with the dedication, experience, and diverse skills of our Treasurer Michael Aaron of Bensalem, PA and Board Member-at-Large Sumanth Munipalli of Hightstown, NJ greatly expand our ability to significantly impact those in marginalized communities throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. The future looks very bright".

New Board Member Ysabel Gonzalez shared that she joined the Board "because of P&S/GyC's long resolve to support vulnerable communities-communities that treasure storytelling and poetry and want a safe place to explore conversations around shared experiences and humanity. This kind of work leads to great social impact, and upholds values that I hold dear, including tying the literary arts to learning how to better be in service to each other and our great communities."
Ms. Gonzalez, an accomplished poet, facilitated a poetry workshop many years ago P&S/GyC held at a Correctional Facility which was a "special experience I will never forget. I'd love to be able to gift back my expertise in the literary arts and narrative change work…to support the organization's power in storytelling and lift up the work that the organization is doing…"

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE REVEALED
"Imagine a lunchtime or after-hours wellness program - a benefit - provided to your staff or employees that can bring new energy and camaraderie - while at the same time supporting building community in underserved areas of New Jersey," Board Chair Charley Busuttil shared recently. "It's a win/win that People & Stories - Gente y Cuentos can bring to your office."
In an effort to expand its outreach to underserved communities, People & Stories/Gente y Cuentos is instituting a "GO GO" program: "Get One" 8 week literature/discussion program for a company's or organization's staff/employees and "Give One" to sponsor a P&S/GyC program at a partner site in an underserved area of New Jersey.
