San Jose: Public Review Draft SEIR: Milligan Parking Lot Project (ER20-049)
TelAve News/10791844
~ The City of San José is proposing to construct an approximately 300-space surface parking lot on a 2.5-acre site located in downtown San José. The project site, which is bordered by North Autumn Street to the west, West St. John Street to the south, the Guadalupe River to the east, and existing residential development to the north, currently contains 118 surface parking spaces used for SAP Center events.
The proposed project would involve removing all existing on-site buildings and constructing a new parking lot with two 26-foot wide full-access driveways onto North Autumn Street and West St. John Street for ingress and egress. The project would also remove 28 trees, including 20 ordinance-sized trees, and plant 26 24-inch box replacement trees. Additionally, a 600-foot long future pedestrian trail or Class I paved bicycle and pedestrian trail would be constructed within the 35-foot setback area located between the proposed parking lot and the Guadalupe River.
The public is invited to review and comment on the draft documents during a public circulation period from June 2nd through July 18th of this year. Public comments must be submitted to Environmental Project Manager Cassandra van der Zweep no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 18th at Cassandra.vanderZweep@sanjoseca.gov or by calling 408-535-7659. More information can be found at Milligan Parking Lot Project | City of San Jose (sanjoseca.gov).
