South Bend: City to Host 6th Year of Linden Avenue Farmer's Market

~ The City of South Bend's Engagement and Economic Empowerment (EEE) team has announced the schedule for the 6th year of the Linden Avenue Farmer's Market. This seasonal market is a collaborative effort between local and regional farmers, food vendors, health and wellbeing organizations, and food outreach coordinators to address the issue of food insecurity in the community.

According to Mary McAfee, Director of Engagement and Economic Empowerment, this initiative aims to provide fresh, locally grown produce and culturally appropriate food options at an affordable cost. It also supports local farmers, vendors, entrepreneurs, and the community as a whole.

The market will take place on the second Saturday of every month from May to September at the Martin Luther King Dream Center located at 1522 Linden Ave. Each event will feature local food vendors, farmers, a live DJ, and other family-friendly interactive entertainment.

Interested vendors can apply to participate by visiting southbendin.gov/food-security. The market dates are as follows:

- Saturday, May 9 from 10am-2pm

- Saturday, June 13 from 10am-2pm

- Saturday, July 11 from 10am-2pm

- Saturday, August 8 from 10am-2pm

- Saturday, September 12 from 10am-2pm

This initiative not only provides access to healthy food options but also promotes economic empowerment within the community. The EEE team encourages everyone to support this important cause by attending the Linden Avenue Farmer's Market.
