July 18, 2025 ~ South Bend, IN - The Leeper Park Tennis Courts will undergo a major reconstruction starting on Monday, July 21. The project, which is estimated to cost $1.8 million, will include the installation of a new post-tensioned concrete surface for 13 full-sized courts. Other enhancements such as new net anchors, posts, nets, sidewalks and fencing will also be added. If weather permits, the project is expected to be completed by the end of September.

Funding for this project comes from various sources including the City of South Bend, Visit South Bend Mishawaka and the South Bend Community Tennis Association. In honor of David Filer, a young tennis player who passed away from brain cancer at the age of 16, the courts will be renamed as the David Filer Tennis Center at Leeper Park.
