COLUMBIA, S.C. - TelAve -- Generations For America Foundation partnering with the Cambodian Association of South Carolina proudly announces that the State of South Carolina has officially proclaimed April 2026 as Cambodian Heritage Month, recognizing the rich cultural contributions and enduring legacy of the Cambodian community across the state.
Home to more than 5,000+ Cambodians, South Carolina's Cambodian American community has a powerful story of resilience, perseverance, and cultural pride. With vibrant communities and temples throughout the state particularly in Spartanburg & Greenville County the proclamation marks a significant moment of recognition and celebration. Community members have expressed deep appreciation for this acknowledgment, made possible through the efforts of Generations For America Foundation.
President and Founder, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Ingrid Centurion, emphasized the importance of education in empowering communities. Through the Foundation's signature program, The Shield of Rights, Centurion is committed to educating citizens about their constitutional rights from a law enforcement perspective. Ratha Sat, First Generation Cambodian American and Public Relations Director for the Foundation, Also Vice President of the Cambodian Association of South Carolina shared a deeply personal perspective on the milestone. "Being a voice for my community is an honor. Rocky Burke, a retired law enforcement professional with over 50 years of service in South Carolina and an instructor for The Shield of Rights program, highlighted the importance of collaboration between citizens and law enforcement.
