South Coast AQMD Launches $21 Million GO ZERO Program
TelAve News/10874259
DIAMOND BAR, Calif., Sept. 3, 2025 ~ The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) has recently announced the launch of their GO ZERO Pilot Incentive Program, a $21 million initiative aimed at promoting the use of cleaner, zero-emission space and water heating technologies. These advanced technologies have been proven to be 3-4 times more efficient than traditional gas systems, resulting in reduced energy consumption and lower utility bills for residents and businesses.
The GO ZERO program offers a variety of incentives to encourage the adoption of these environmentally-friendly heating options. This includes rebates for heat pump devices for both space and water heating, available to single-family homes, multifamily buildings, and small businesses. The program also provides workforce training for installers, ensuring a skilled workforce for future clean energy projects. Additionally, application assistance is available to help applicants maximize their savings by combining multiple program incentives.

However, funding for the GO ZERO program is limited and applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis while funds last. Rebates typically range from $1,000 to $2,000 per heat pump unit, with additional funding of up to $3,000 for homes in overburdened communities and $4,000 for small businesses. To address affordability concerns, 75% of the program's funding for homes is designated specifically for overburdened communities.
To be eligible for the GO ZERO rebates, the newly installed unit must be a heat pump that replaces a gas or propane unit such as a furnace or water heater. Interested individuals can stay updated on the program by signing up for South Coast AQMD's eNewsletter and checking the box for GO ZERO at www.aqmd.gov/sign-up. More information about the program can also be found at www.aqmd.gov/gozero.
South Coast AQMD is responsible for regulating air quality in large areas of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties as well as the Coachella Valley.
