TelAve News/10894865
~ Spokane County is gearing up for wildfire season with an upcoming event organized by the Spokane County Wildfire Mitigation Coalition. The event aims to raise awareness of wildfire risk, fuel reduction, and forest health by bringing together community members and regional partners.
As May is recognized as wildfire preparedness month, this event will provide residents with valuable education, resources, and practical steps to prepare for the upcoming season. It will also focus on supporting home survivability and post-fire recovery. The coalition hopes to showcase their collaborative approach in mitigating the impacts of wildfires across agencies and jurisdictions.
Attendees can expect presentations on various topics such as the connection between forest health and wildfire behavior, the impact of ember showers on homes, and steps to home hardening. The event will also feature a perspective from the WA State Insurance Commissioner on recovery following natural disasters like wildfires.
