Spokane: Flags Lowered for National Firefighters Memorial Day

TelAve News/10895137
~ Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has issued a directive for all City facilities to lower their flags to half-staff on Monday, May 4, in honor of National Firefighters Memorial Day. This decision aligns with Governor Bob Ferguson's order for state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities to also be lowered.

According to Communications Director Erin Hut, this year's recognition holds special significance as the community mourns the loss of two local firefighters. Kootenai County Fire and Rescue Chief Frank Harwood and Coeur d'Alene Fire Department Battalion Chief John Morrison were tragically killed in an ambush attack.
