Spokane: North Freya Street to Close for Water Main Replacement

~ Spokane, WA - The City of Spokane has announced a major construction project set to begin on Monday, March 10. The project will involve the replacement of a 30-inch water main along N. Freya St. in northeast Spokane, with work taking place between E. Garland Ave. and E. Wellesley Ave.

According to Kirstin Davis, spokesperson for the City of Spokane, the project aims to improve water distribution reliability and support future development in the area. In addition to replacing the water main, the project will also include reconstructing the roadway, improving sidewalks, and installing stormwater management features.

The construction is expected to last through the summer months and drivers can expect detours in place during this time. Those traveling south on N. Freya St. will be directed west at E. Wellesley Ave., then onto Haven St., before continuing southbound on N. Market St. and reconnecting with N. Freya St.

Similarly, drivers traveling north on N. Freya St. will be detoured west at E. Euclid Ave., then onto N. Market St., before continuing northbound and reconnecting with N. Freya St.

Motorists are advised to slow down and follow designated detour signs while businesses in the area, as well as the U.S Post Office, will still have local access during construction.

For those looking to access Esmeralda Golf Course during this time, entrance via N.Freya St can still be made by using E.Euclid Ave./E.Frederick Ave.

A detour map has been provided by the City of Spokane for reference and updates on any obstructions can be found on their construction webpage.

Residents are reminded to exercise caution while driving through this area and to expect delays as construction progresses towards its goal of enhancing water distribution reliability for future development in northeast Spokane.
