Spokane Police arrest male for threats against "The Villages" and Mar-A-Lago

~ On May 2nd, 2026, at approximately 10:40 a.m., the Sumter County Sheriff's Office in Florida contacted the Spokane Police Department regarding a series of threatening phone calls made to "The Villages" and Mar-A-Lago. The phone number linked to the threats was traced back to a resident of Spokane.

According to Officer T. Leming, Public Information Officer for the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, the suspect was reportedly upset about President Trump's recent visit to "The Villages". In response, both the Sumter County Sheriff's Office and Federal Agents from the Secret Service requested that SPD make contact with the individual connected to the phone number.

Upon contacting the male suspect, he admitted to making multiple calls to "The Villages" and stated that it was not a threat, but a warning. Further investigation confirmed that his phone number matched the one used in the earlier threats.

The suspect, identified as 74-year-old Robert Martindale, was arrested by Spokane Police for Threats to Bomb or Injure Property, which is classified as a Class B Felony. He was subsequently booked into Spokane County Jail.
