According to reports, a Spokane city employee called 911 at approximately 8:10 a.m. to report a vehicle driving recklessly with a flat tire near 7th Ave and Inland Empire Way. The caller provided the license plate number, which matched the stolen vehicle reported earlier.
City park rangers in the area were able to gather witness statements and provide a description of the suspected driver. Shortly after, Spokane police officers located the suspect under the Sunset Bridge and attempted to make contact with him.
However, the male suspect refused to follow commands and fled from officers through High Bridge Park before eventually entering Latah Creek. Concerned for his safety, officers requested medics and fire rescue teams in case he was unable to get out of the creek.
