~ Spokane Fire Department Truck Involved in Accident While Responding to Fire Alarm

This morning at 9:14, Spokane Fire Department's Truck 13 was responding to a fire alarm when it was involved in an accident. According to Spokane Fire PIO Justin de Ruyter, the truck lost traction while descending a hill at West Rowan Avenue and West Fleming Place. The truck then slid down the street and collided with a home in the 3500 block of North Greenwood Blvd.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the incident. The home was occupied at the time of the accident, but a city engineer inspected the property and deemed it safe for continued occupancy. However, Truck 13 sustained significant damage and will be out of service until repairs can be completed.

In response to the original fire alarm, firefighters requested Engine 16 to assist. However, while attempting to access the residence, Engine 16 also lost control on the same hill and slid into two unoccupied vehicles before coming to a stop. Again, there were no injuries reported from this incident.
