Spokane: Water Wise Wednesday Workshops Begin March 4

~ Spokane, WA- The City of Spokane Water Department and Spokane Public Library have joined forces to bring the community a series of Water Wise Workshops. These workshops will take place every Wednesday from March 4 to April 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Shadle Park Library. The workshops are free and open to the public, with no registration required.

The main focus of these workshops is to educate attendees on sustainable landscaping principles and provide them with practical tools to create water-efficient gardens and planting. The program, called Water Wise Spokane, aims to increase water efficiency, reduce utility bills, and protect the Spokane River and the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer.

The eight-week series will cover a variety of topics including an introduction to SpokaneScape and why saving water is important, DIY design and installation tips for creating a sustainable landscape, choosing native plants for your garden, efficient irrigation methods, alternatives to traditional grass lawns, and designing for both fire safety and water conservation.

Water Wise Spokane offers various resources such as rebates on water-efficient equipment, home indoor and sprinkler system audits, and the SpokaneScape lawn replacement program. Additionally, their website WaterWiseSpokane.org provides helpful conservation tips and tricks for both homes and gardens.
