According to Springfield Fire Chief David Pennington, this exercise is meant to assure everyone that it is just a simulation and there is no need for alarm. He also mentioned that these agencies have been working together for almost two years to develop and test a unified interagency plan for responding to mass casualty incidents.

During the drill, there will be an increased presence of law enforcement, fire trucks and EMS vehicles in and around MSU. The public may also see other activities as part of the simulation. This exercise serves as an important step in ensuring the safety and preparedness of the community in case of any emergency situations.
