Springfield Police Investigate Sunday Morning Shooting

~ Springfield Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, according to a press release from the department. The incident took place at 1042 W. College, where officers were dispatched at approximately 3:36 a.m. in response to reports of multiple gunshot victims at a party.

Upon arrival, officers found two individuals with apparent gunshot wounds and immediately began administering life-saving measures. Both victims were then transported to the hospital for further treatment.

As more victims arrived at Mercy Hospital and Cox Hospital emergency rooms seeking medical attention for gunshot wounds, officers were dispatched to both locations. In total, five additional victims were identified as having been shot at the party on W. College. Of the seven victims, four were female and three were male. One female victim's injuries were severe enough to require immediate surgery upon arrival at the hospital and she is currently in critical condition. The other six victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, no suspect has been identified in connection with the shooting. Detectives are actively investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Springfield Police Department or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers.
