Springfield: SGF Business Lab Helps Entrepreneurs Turn Their Ideas into Reality

~ Springfield, MO- On October 15, the efactory's Jay Wasson Idea Loft will be hosting the second annual SGF Business Lab, a half-day workshop-style event aimed at helping small business owners and entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses locally. The event will provide practical guidance on how to do business with the City and tap into local resources, as well as help current business owners expand their operations.

The SGF Business Lab will offer participants a comprehensive guide through the process of site selection, permitting, legal basics, and loan programs offered by the City. Additionally, resources from the Springfield Business Development Corporation (SBDC) will be available on topics such as writing a business plan, funding options, and legal basics. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free of charge for attendees. Lunch will also be provided.

According to Amanda Ohlensehlen, Director of Workforce & Economic Vitality for the City of Springfield, this event serves as a launchpad for those looking to start a business while also supporting existing businesses in the community. "We are excited to collaborate with Springfield Business Development Corporation, Unite News and Score to bring this event to the business community as a way to bolster the local economy," she added.

The SGF Business Lab was created with the goal of providing a one-stop shop for resources to help small business owners and entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses locally. The inaugural event was held in December 2024.
